About Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Observatories

The observatories are why west Shinjuku is on a first-timer map. Both decks sit on the 45th floor of Building No.1 at 202 m. Admission is free. No ticket window. South observatory: 09:30–22:00, last entry 21:30, closed the 1st and 3rd Tuesday (or the next weekday if that Tuesday is a holiday). North: 09:30–17:30, last entry 17:00, closed the 2nd and 4th Monday. When the south deck is closed, the north deck stays open until 22:00. Both close 29–31 December and 2–3 January, and on building inspection days. Queues of 20–30 minutes are common at sunset. The dedicated phone is 03-5320-7890 (weekdays 10:00–17:00). Closures go out on the Tokyo tourism observatory account @tocho_tenbou. Shinjuku Central Park is next door. This is an observatory, not a shopping centre. The old office-hours row on this slug was wrong.
