About Kabukicho
Kabukicho is the east-side night district. It was named for a kabuki theatre that was never built. The working landmarks now are the Ichiban-gai arch, Shinjuku Toho Building (Godzilla Head), Tokyu Kabukicho Tower on the old Milano plot, and Hanazono Shrine on the south edge. Golden Gai sits behind the ward office. Tourists come for neon. Locals still use Hanazono, the cinemas, and the restaurants. Adult businesses exist; write them as they are. Robot Restaurant closed in March 2020. Halloween street drinking in Kabukicho 1-chome follows the ward notice, not blog round-ups. Discovery Kabukicho (d-kabukicho.com) is the area TMO calendar.
