Maison Landemaine Shinjuku Isetan is a French boulangerie on the B1F of Isetan Shinjuku, opened in March 2021 as the first department-store branch of the Parisian bakery. Founded by Rodolphe Landemaine, who trained in traditional French baking, the brand runs 17 shops in France and a small number of outlets in Japan, with the Isetan counter bringing authentic French bread to one of Tokyo's most discerning food halls. The counter is particularly noted for its vegan range, developed jointly with a French startup using 100 per cent plant-based egg substitutes - the first such release in the group's history. Vegan croissants, chausson aux pommes (apple turnovers), apple tarts, mont-blanc and melon pan sit alongside traditional baguettes, country loaves, savoury sandwiches and ready-to-eat salads. The vegan melon pan, a soft brioche bun wrapped in a crisp cookie crust, is a particular standout and a relatively rare find in Tokyo. Maison Landemaine is located on the basement food floor of Isetan Shinjuku at 3-14-1 Shinjuku, a three-minute walk from Shinjuku-Sanchome Station and a five-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station. The shop is open from 10:00 to 20:00, following the department store, and the best selection of fresh bread is available in the morning, with popular items often selling out by late afternoon.
