Tatsunoya, written in Japanese as 龍の家 (Ryu no Ie) and also known as RAMEN TATSUNOYA, is a tonkotsu ramen specialist founded in 1999 in Kurume, Fukuoka, one of the birthplaces of Kyushu-style pork bone ramen. The Shinjuku branch operates on Kotakibashi-dori in Nishi-Shinjuku, roughly three minutes on foot from Seibu-Shinjuku Station and within easy walking distance of the wider JR Shinjuku transport hub. The shop is known for its rich, silky tonkotsu broth, which is simmered from pork bones to produce a mellow yet powerful flavour, and its signature bowls include the standard tonkotsu ramen as well as a popular motsu (offal) tsukemen dipping noodle that draws queues at lunch and dinner. Customers purchase meal tickets from a vending machine and queue outside until called, with the line moving relatively quickly despite its regular length. The Shinjuku branch is open from 11:00 to 22:00 daily, though hours can be adjusted during busy periods or when stock runs out. Visiting outside the peak lunch and dinner windows, particularly mid-afternoon on a weekday, usually means a shorter wait for a seat at the counter.
