Isetan Shinjuku Sekai o Taberu Wine Fair 2026: 22 Countries, 4 Bars, 6 Days
From July 14 to 20, 2026, Isetan Shinjuku holds its annual Sekai o Taberu Wine Ten (Travel the World Wine Fair) on the 6th floor event hall of the main building. The fair opens to the general public from July 15 to July 20, with July 14 reserved as an MI Card member-only preview day. General hours are 10:00 to 20:00, with the final day, July 20 (a Marine Day public holiday), closing at 18:00. Admission is free, and the fair covers wines from 22 countries plus a dedicated Japan-wine section, with four separate bar counters serving by-the-glass pours from 11:00.
This is the most important wine retail event on the Isetan Shinjuku calendar. The format is built around tasting at the booth, then buying the bottle at the booth and taking it home, and the producers themselves come to Tokyo for the run. The 2026 edition leans into two themes the Tokyo wine-drinking market has been pushing on for the last two years: English sparkling wine and natural wine.
The four bars and what they pour
The fair runs four bar counters, each with a distinct identity. The English Wine Bar, curated by the Sommelier Guild led by Japan Best Sommelier winner Iguro Taku, pours English sparkling and still wines from producers including Gusbourne Estate, Hambledon, Black Chalk, Hattingley Valley, Roebuck Estates, and Danbury Ridge. Prices by the glass run from 660 yen for a classic cuvee to 1,320 yen for a Gusborne Blanc de Blancs 2019. Iguro himself is at the booth on July 18.
The wa-syu Japan Wine Bar recreates the "Kadachi Nihon Wine" pop-up format that wa-syu runs regularly, and for the 2026 fair it brings in producers from across Japan. The line-up includes Domaine Bless (Hokkaido) with a 12-grape co-fermented orange wine called MUSUBI Junigitoe, naritaya (Hokkaido) with a Riesling 100%, Yukikawa Jozo in collaboration with wa-syu, Yoshikoi Winery (Kochi) with a five-variety blend called GALAXY FIVE, Iwasaki Genki (Tochigi) with a Muscat Bailey A red, Tuiji Lab (Nagano) with their sold-out momowan Chardonnay, Aijoko-bo (Yamaine) with a Merlot blend, and Chateau Jun (Yamanashi) with a Pinot Noir aged in a specific American oak barrel. Many of these are sold by the glass only on a specific day and in limited quantities of 24 to 84 glasses, so the booth schedule is the document to read before you go.
The natural wine bar and the reservation system
The fair introduces a dedicated Natural Wine Bar for MI Card members, with online reservations opening on July 1 at 10:00. This is the only bar at the fair that takes advance reservations; the other three bars reserve same-day at the booth from 10:30 each morning (MI Card members get priority from 10:00). The natural wine bar reflects how far the Tokyo natural wine movement has moved from niche to mainstream department-store programming.
Free tasting for MI W members
For MI W members (the free Mitsukoshi Isetan web membership), the fair offers free small-quantity tasting at each booth across the 22 countries. This is not the same as the bar pours. The booth tasting is small samples at the country booths; the bar pours are larger, charged, and curated. Both routes are worth doing: walk the booths first to find the country you respond to, then buy a glass at the relevant bar to confirm.
The Domaine Takahiko lottery
The fair runs a lottery sale for Domaine Takahiko, the Hokkaido producer whose wines sell out within hours of release in Japan. The 2026 fair includes a limited-quantity allocation sold by lottery, separate from the general booth sales. Details are at the booth. This is the only part of the fair that requires advance planning beyond the natural wine bar reservation.
How to plan the visit
The fair is on the 6th floor event hall of Isetan Shinjuku's main building, at 3-14-1 Shinjuku. The closest station is Shinjuku-sanchome, which connects directly to the store via an underground passage. From JR Shinjuku Station it is a 5-minute walk east. The fair is open from 10:00 to 20:00 for retail, with the bars opening at 11:00 on a 45-minute rotation, last seating 17:45 on the final day.
If you only have one day, go on July 18 (Saturday), when Sommelier Guild leader Iguro Taku is at the English bar and several Japanese producers are on the floor at the same time. If you want to avoid crowds, go on July 16 (Thursday) morning. The fair is free to enter; budget for by-the-glass pours at 660 to 2,090 yen per glass, and bring a bag for bottles.
