Kua Aina is a Hawaiian-born gourmet burger and sandwich restaurant on the seventh floor of Lumine Est Shinjuku, known for its generous American-sized portions of charcoal-grilled beef patties and avocado sandwiches with thin-cut fries.

Kua Aina is a Hawaiian gourmet burger and sandwich restaurant located on the seventh floor of Lumine Est Shinjuku at 3-38-1 Shinjuku, directly connected to JR Shinjuku Station's east exit. The Shinjuku branch reopened in December 2024 in a newly expanded space on the seventh floor, having previously operated on the eighth floor of the same building. The restaurant is part of a chain that originated in Haleiwa, Hawaii, and has built a strong following in Japan for its generous, American-style portions and casual aloha atmosphere.

The menu centres on charcoal-grilled beef hamburgers and sandwiches, with the avocado burger and avocado sandwich being perennial favourites, served with generous helpings of thinly sliced fries on the side. Sandwiches come in American portions that often surprise first-time Japanese customers, with thick slabs of avocado, grilled chicken, pastrami and other fillings spilling out of toasted buns. The drink menu is similarly generous, with large cups of coffee and guava juice that stand out from typical Japanese portion sizes, reflecting the Hawaiian roots of the brand.

The restaurant operates daily from 11:00 to 22:00, with last orders at 21:30, and lunch pricing averages around 1,500 yen per person. Its location inside Lumine Est means it is directly accessible from the JR Shinjuku east ticket gates without going outdoors, a significant convenience during inclement weather. Weekend lunchtimes can see queues forming, so arriving before noon or after 14:00 is advisable for those wishing to avoid waiting, particularly on Saturdays when the Shinjuku shopping crowds are at their peak.
