Hatsumode is the first shrine visit of the New Year, and Hanazono Shrine is one of the most popular spots in Shinjuku for this tradition. On January 1–3, the shrine is packed with locals praying for good luck in the coming year. The atmosphere is festive, with food stalls, traditional performances, and the sound of bells. It's a unique cultural experience, but be prepared for massive crowds.
