About This Event / イベントについて
The organiser is NPO Shinjuku Kabukicho Kuyakusho-dori 3A. Their site calls this the 21st year, 30 October 2026 to 28 February 2027. The Shinjuku ward page, last updated 29 September 2026, still titles the same dates as the 20th. Trust the NPO for the count. The street and the clock match on both pages.
The run is Kuyakusho-dori from Yasukuni-dori to Shokuan-dori, about 700 metres, roughly 90 trees. The ward page says about 120,000 LEDs, plus lights on Heiwa no Izumi. Walkerplus, crediting the 3A, says 2026 is white wine-glass shapes. Lights go on at 16:30 and stay until 03:00. That is later than the south-exit walk, which usually dies at midnight when it runs.
The lighting ceremony is Friday 30 October at Shinjuku City Hall, Kabukicho 1-4-1. The NPO lists the ceremony from 16:00. Walkerplus lists 16:30 and Dixieland Paradise. Last year’s NPO report had music at 16:00 and the switch-on at 16:30. The ward page still names the Tokyo Fire Department band and a 16:50 countdown, which is last year’s programme left on this year’s dates. Go for 16:00 if you want the speeches. The street is the point after that.
This is the Kabukicho working street, not Southern Terrace. Office drinkers use it after 22:00. JR Shinjuku east exit is about three minutes. Seibu-Shinjuku is closer if you are already on that side. Official pages: 3A NPO, Shinjuku City, Walkerplus.
