A new TGI Fridays flagship opens in Shinjuku Kabukicho on July 31, 2026, bringing the American casual dining chain back to one of Tokyo's busiest entertainment districts. The new restaurant, TGI FRIDAYS Shinjuku Kabukicho, opens at 17:00 on opening day inside the Daiichi Metro Building, a 2-minute walk from Shinjuku Station East Exit.
A new flagship for a global brand
The Kabukicho location becomes the 14th TGI Fridays store in Japan and the brand's new domestic flagship. TGI Fridays was born in New York in 1965 and now operates in 41 countries with over 450 restaurants worldwide. The brand's promise — “In Here, It's Always Friday” — is the same one that launched the original singles-bar concept six decades ago, but the Shinjuku store leans into a more modern positioning: a gathering point for both Japanese customers and the international travellers who now fill Kabukicho each evening.
The restaurant seats 105 across two floors of the Daiichi Metro Building, at 1-23-14 Kabukicho. Hours are 11:00–23:00 daily, year-round. The menu carries the chain's signature American fare: the FRIDAYS THREE-FOR-ALL platter of Buffalo wings, potato skins and fried mozzarella; the FRIDAYS Signature Burger; baby back ribs; and a full cocktail list that includes the chain's margarita, Long Island iced tea, electric lemonade and mojito.
A week of opening events
The opening is being marked with a run of promotions across the first ten days. On opening day, July 31, the first 50 guests receive a free bottle of the chain's signature whiskey-glaze original sauce — a non-retail item. From July 31 to August 2, all signature cocktails are ¥500 (¥550 including tax), and flare bartending performances are scheduled each evening. A collaboration menu with Beefeater Black gin runs July 31 to August 9, featuring a lemon-forward gin cocktail. From August 3 to 7, weekday lunch customers receive double loyalty points.
Kabukicho as a dining destination
The choice of Kabukicho for the new flagship reflects the neighbourhood's continuing reinvention. Once known mainly for nightlife and entertainment, Kabukicho has added hotels, theatres and international-facing dining at pace since the opening of Tokyu Kabukicho Tower in 2023. The new TGI Fridays sits inside that corridor — close to both the tower and the Shinjuku Station east exits, and within easy walking distance of Hanazono Shrine, which holds its Bon Odori the following weekend, August 1–2.
