Torien at Omoide Yokocho Memory Lane

Torien is one of the largest yakitori izakayas in Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho, grilling chicken skewers over charcoal in a beloved Showa-era setting.

Torien is a well-established yakitori and seafood izakaya situated at 1-2-4 Nishishinjuku within the iconic Shinjuku Nishiguchi Omoide Yokocho. As one of the largest establishments in the alley, it has become a go-to destination for visitors wanting to experience the retro Showa-era atmosphere that defines this historic drinking quarter. The narrow alley setting, with its smoke, chatter, and clinking glasses, provides an authentic Tokyo izakaya experience that contrasts sharply with the sleek towers of Nishi-Shinjuku above.

The menu offers an extensive 120 items, with yakitori skewers grilled over charcoal being the centrepiece. The signature shamoji tsukune, a chicken meatball shaped on a rice spoon, is a house speciality that draws repeat customers.
