A quiet room one minute from the ticket gates
TOKYO BASE, the company behind the shop, edits Japanese craft, fabric, and clothing for a contemporary floor, not a souvenir corridor. Fashion, ceramics, and household objects share the same rack logic. The Shinjuku fit-out leans on noren and a small garden vocabulary so that, once you are inside, the station noise drops. That contrast is the whole pitch. Flags sits on 3-37-1 Shinjuku, JR southeast exit essentially at the door, Odakyu south exit about two minutes. You can be on the 2nd floor before your Suica has settled.
Kyoto and Ginza are pavement shops. Shinjuku is a bet that inbound traffic already in Flags will walk into a craft edit without needing a side-street map. Odakyu SC Development, which runs Flags, says duty-free sales in the building are up about 30% year on year. Whether that number holds is their problem. For a visitor it means the 2F corridor is no longer only music, sneakers, and sportswear. The building’s own slogan is MUSIC / FASHION / SPORTS. A craft select shop is a different temperature. That is useful if you have two hours between trains and do not want another Uniqlo.
Points, and what the shop is not
This Flags branch is the only JAPAN EDITION that issues both Odakyu points and d points on the same ticket. If you already carry either card, that is a practical reason to buy here rather than in Ginza. The shop is not a museum of regional crafts and it is not a tax-free dump of folding fans. Expect edited fashion and objects with a maker’s name attached, in a room designed to look slower than the rest of 2F.

How to fold it into a station day
Southeast exit, Flags, 2F, then either back into the Odakyu / JR maze or out toward Isetan and Shinjuku-sanchome. That is a tight loop. Do not treat this as a destination that needs a reserved afternoon. Treat it as the ten quiet minutes you can actually get next to Shinjuku Station. If the edit is thin on the day you visit, you have lost almost no walking time.
