Scone and milk tea shop BAKERS gonna BAKE opens its first Shinjuku store on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, inside Lumine Shinjuku. Operator Ivy Company Co., Ltd. is based in Sendagaya, Shibuya, and headed by president Ryuhei Tsukada. The Lumine counter is the brand's third shop and its first in the Shinjuku area.
The new shop will sell signature buttermilk scones made with French cultured butter, the honeycomb toffee milk tea that already circulates on social media, and items you can only buy at Lumine Shinjuku: two frozen drinks and an original tote bag. Autumn also brings a collaboration with Funawa, the long-established Asakusa wagashi house, plus chestnut milk teas. Those seasonal lines went on sale from 2 September at Tokyo Gift Palette and Echika Omotesando. Lumine Shinjuku starts them on opening day, 15 September.
Lumine Shinjuku exclusives: frozen drinks and a tote
The drink to look for on day one is Frozen Honeycomb Toffee Milk Tea, 680 yen including tax, sold only at this store. Rich milk tea is blended with milk gelato and ice, then topped with a smooth milk foam made from milk and whipped cream. The sip is cold and even; honeycomb toffee adds a slightly bitter sweetness and a crunch. It is the shop's flagship milk tea recast as a frozen cup for late-summer Shinjuku.
Frozen Honeycomb Toffee Chai is also 680 yen and also Lumine-only. It starts from the same frozen milk tea and adds the shop's own chai spice. Toffee bitterness and spice aroma sit together, which is useful if plain milk tea feels heavy.
The other Lumine exclusive is the BGB Lumine Shinjuku original tote bag, 1,200 yen including tax. It comes in a colour made for this store, takes A4 papers, and is sized to wear on the shoulder. The print is the brand logo on a simple bag. Fabric is 100 percent cotton. It goes on sale 15 September, same day as the frozen drinks, and only at Lumine Shinjuku.
Chestnut and crack chocolate milk teas for autumn
Two iced drinks run across all shops. Both use Assam milk tea with chestnut sauce, then honeycomb toffee and chestnut on top. Iced Honeycomb Toffee Milk Tea Paris Choco Marron is 680 yen including tax. Chocolate coated on the inside of the cup is cracked so it mixes into the tea and gives a crisp bite. Iced Honeycomb Toffee Milk Tea Marron is 630 yen including tax, the same chestnut build without the inner chocolate.
The window is Wednesday 2 September through Tuesday 24 November 2026. Tokyo Gift Palette and Echika Omotesando started on 2 September. Lumine Shinjuku sells them from 15 September through the same end date. The operator notes that supply can shorten or shift the window.
Three Funawa collaboration bakes
The autumn collaboration with Funawa Honten Co., Ltd. returns again this year. Funawa was founded in 1902 (Meiji 35). It still follows founder Wasuke Kobayashi's approach to wagashi and aims for high-quality sweets that keep the character of the ingredients. Three items are on all BAKERS gonna BAKE counters for the same autumn dates: 2 September to 24 November, and from 15 September at Lumine Shinjuku.
Funawa sweet potato yokan and cultured-butter scone sandwich is 500 yen including tax. It uses Funawa's imo yokan and sweet potato paste with cultured butter that has a clean acidity and depth, then sandwiches almond tuile. Soft yokan sweetness sits against scone layers. It is a deliberate mix of wagashi and a Western bake.
Funawa sweet potato paste scone is 390 yen including tax. French cultured-butter buttermilk scone wraps Funawa sweet potato paste: the brand's signature dough around Asakusa filling. Funawa sweet potato paste pound cake is 360 yen including tax. Dough folded with Hokkaido adzuki beans is baked with Funawa sweet potato paste. Domestic butter and wheat flavour the crumb; sweet potato adds a quiet sweetness.
BAKERS gonna BAKE describes itself as a shop for milk tea that lifts the mood and scones that make an ordinary day slightly more fun. Scones are baked from selected ingredients and kept plain enough that choosing one is the hard part. Lumine Shinjuku is both takeout and eat-in. The two older shops are takeout-led: Echika Omotesando sits inside Tokyo Metro Omotesando Station, and Tokyo Gift Palette is a workshop-style counter at Tokyo Station's Yaesu North Exit. The Shinjuku shop is on B2F of Lumine 1, plugged into JR Shinjuku Station, so you can pick up a scone and a frozen tea without leaving the station complex.
